13 Dead Husbands by Tom Horan

Directed by Dan Kerr-Hobert

At the Storefront Theater

Dee Dee is quite probably the most beautiful woman in the world. Fantastically wealthy, accomplished, and extraordinary men have swooned at her feet. She has married no fewer than twelve of these men—but each one of them met a calamitous wedding-day death. Fearing she is cursed, Dee Dee tries to build a new, quieter life as a Paris barista. But no sooner does she settle into her new city than she finds herself the focus of attention again. Former best friends Jean-Pierre and Marcel (quite probably the most French men in the world) are competing for her affection. And the ambitious businessman Hubert Hubble is out to prove to the world that he can break her romantic curse. If you're interested in auditioning, click here.

3rd Annual No Pants, Just Shorts - Short Play Festival
One night of theater, staged in an hour, and you could be a part of the action! Our yearly event in which we cast, rehearse, and stage a series of short plays. Last year's competition was fierce—nearly 60 playwrights vied for three finalist slots. Past guest judges include Dean Corrin (Victory Gardens), Rosie Forest (Northlight), Gabe Greene (Steppenwolf) and Beau O'Reilly (Curious Theater Branch). Past directors have included Steve Scott (Goodman), Ronan Marra (Signal), Jimmy McDermott (Writer's Theater), Libby Ford (Collision), and Dan Kerr-Hobert (Sansculottes).
Scripts should adheare to the following rules:
1. Scripts are accepted from Jan 1 to May 1.
2. One-script-per-writer limit.
3. Preference to scripts with three or more actors.
4. Scripts will only be accepted via e-mail.
5. Playwrights must live in the chicagoland area and be present on the night of the event, which takes place on a Monday in June.
Actors wanted: If you are interested in performing, bring a headshot and go through a one-line audition monologue written by Sansculottes. Then, be prepared to rehearse quickly. As the Chicago Reader said of our event, "Act Fast."
